Major Arcana · card IX
The Hermit
solitude, reflection, guidance
Reading it upright
An old figure stands on a peak holding a lantern. It is the card of stepping back to think, study or recover. It can also show a mentor who lights only the next few steps.
Reading it reversed
Reversed, solitude becomes isolation, or someone avoids the reflection they need.
Journal prompt
What question would I answer if I gave it a quiet afternoon?
Study tip. Draw The Hermit on purpose, set it in front of you, and write three things you can literally see in the picture before you look at any notes. Your own observations will stay with you longer than a keyword list.
Notes on this site are a starting point. Different decks and readers interpret cards differently, and a reading is never a substitute for professional advice.
